Teaching

From microbial genomics to metagenomics

The consortium organized also a small course during winter 2017 in collaboration with the Doctoral School in Environmental, Food and Biological Sciences (YEB) of the University of Helsinki. During the one week course the students have applied bioinformatic techniques to study microbial communities and performing population genetics. A tutorial is available in a dedicated github account

Summer Course in ”Genomics in foodborne pathogen surveillance and outbreak investigation”

The Summer Course Genomics in foodborne pathogen surveillance and outbreak investigation was part of the capacity building activity for public health stakeholders within the Project INNUENDO. During the 12th and the 13th of July 2017 the course was held at the Campus of Álava of University of Basque Country (UPV/EHU), Spain. A total of 45 Summer Course students, 10 Master and Doctorate students from UPV/EHU, 10 course lectures and 52 webcast followers attended to the course and received theoretical and practical training concerning application of WGS in surveillance of food pathogens.

Working with bacterial communities and population

The consortium organized also a small course during spring 2016 in collaboration with the Doctoral School in Environmental, Food and Biological Sciences (YEB) of the University of Helsinki. The course is entitle "Working with bacterial communities and population" and it will be tailored for the PhD students of University of Helsinki. During the one week course the students have applied bioinformatic techniques to study microbial communities and performing population genetics. The goal is to become familiar with the analysis tools and to be able to utilize them in own research after the course.

Online permanent training modules

The symposium day 12th July 2017 is now entirely available online through the following link https://ehutb.ehu.es/series/59b66d7bf82b2b150d8b468e
A Linux course is available in the project github account.

PhD and Master thesis

Within the activities of the consortium PhD and MSc students might submit a master or doctoral thesis associated to the project. If you are a MSc student and you would like to perform your thesis within our project, please contact the coordinator.

Exchange of researchers

Through Erasmus+ or other agreements between universities the exchange of pre-graduate students, master students, and professors between the partner organizations will be encouraged. In the beginning of the project an inter-institutional agreement between Universidade de Lisboa and Universidad del País Vasco/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea have been established for the period 2015 - 2017. During that period up to two students could visit the research groups of the institutions. It also includes mobility of teachers both way for one week. For more details please visit this page.
